The mission of Homestretch is to empower homeless families with children in Virginia to attain permanent housing and self-sufficiency by giving them the skills, knowledge, and hope they need to become productive participants in the community. Homestretch families are enrolled in a two year program and provided transitional housing and access to education, financial, and life skills services to help them become self-sufficient.
As you may know, Helios is dedicated to helping homeless families in Fairfax County and really connected with Homestretch’s mission. On October 24, the Helios team is going to be volunteering to help Homestretch prepare a home for a homeless family in Fairfax County. In addition, we are also conducting a drive to collect personal care items and cleaning supplies to help Homestretch stock the homes of their families. Much of Homestretch’s funding has been redirected to programs that provide only permanent housing to homeless families so Homestretch is relying on donations more than ever. How can you help?
