In partnership with the greater Washington SHRM chapters and SmartCEO magazine, on June 6th Helios HR recognized the winners of the 2008 Helios Apollo Awards™ at our breakfast ceremony in Falls Church. The Apollo Awards™ recognize organizations that invest in an intentional culture of continuous learning. This includes creating development opportunities for employees, as well as providing the resources for managers and employees to participate in a robust performance management program. 
There has been a great deal of discussion lately about recent changes in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), which require contractors to implement a code of conduct and compliance training. As discussed below, companies should view this change as a unique opportunity to ultimately decrease costs and increase revenues. 
Many companies both large and small ask themselves the question, “Is spending the money on employee training and development really worth it?” According to studies by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and recent articles in the Harvard Business Review the answer to that often asked question is a resounding “Yes!” 
We are excited to announce that an additional area of recognition was included in the Helios Apollo Awards™ this year. The Hercules Award is given in recognition of organizations that make Herculean efforts toward employee development, in spite of facing many challenges.
