Award-Winning Practices Shared on How to Develop Cultures to Attract & Retain Today’s Talent at the Human Capital Impact Forum

Reston, Virginia -- May 8^th, 2017 — Helios HR partnered up with the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) to host their third Human Capital Impact Forum (HCIF) at The Tower Club located in Tysons Corner, Friday morning, May 5^th. The Human Capital Impact Forum is where 100 C-level executives and their HR leaders come together to learn, collaborate and adapt human capital programs that drive business growth. This forum was developed as the next evolution of the Helios Apollo Awards, a program Helios held for the last 10 years that recognized leaders for outstanding talent development. This past HCIF offered recertification credit hours and the opportunity to learn what cultures are attracting and retaining today’s new graduates and top-talent.

Keynote Speaker and Senior Vice President of Business Advancement at UnitedHealthcare, Kevin Ruth shared his culture transformation initiative and the financial impact it has had over the past decade on the company. “This is no coincidence,” Ruth explained while sharing how UnitedHealthcare’s corporate transition significantly impacted their financial performance within the last 8 years. “We knew we needed to focus on our employees if we wanted to double our revenue.” UnitedHealthcare’s stock price has increased six-fold since 2009.

Moderated by Helios HR’s CEO, Kathy Albarado, the second session of the event featured Emily Markmann (VP of People at WeddingWire), Sam Cicotello (VP of People at Social Tables), and Ed Offterdinger (Executive Managing Partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause). Each panelist shared top values that described their company’s culture and how it impacts their workforce and ultimately their performance. Kathy reminded the audience that every company has a culture, good or bad, but “building a culture of intention and creating employee development programs will contribute to your company’s success. Corporate cultures are never finished developing,” Kathy shared.
