A World Cup of Absentee: Are You Watching United States VS. Germany?
Did you see the "doctors note" written by United States soccer coach, Juergen Klinsmann that has been spreading rapidly across social media over the last 12 hours? We have to admire Klinsmann for his engagement approach as he encourages employers to forgive their employees for absenteeism today, Thursday, June 26th as the United States plays Germany this afternoon for a chance to qualify for the second round of the World Cup tournament.
Klinsmann states, "I understand that this absence may reduce the productivity of your workplace, but I can assure you that it is for an important cause. By the way, you should act like a good leader and take the day off as well. Go USA!"
BuzzFeed adds, "Worry about your career on Friday. This is your country we’re talking about. LET’S GO USA!"
We want to know, did you take his advice? Make sure you reach the tips provided by The Wall Street Journal on just "How to Skip Work to Watch U.S. vs. Germany."
If not, the game starts right in time for lunch! Consider throwing your own viewing party by projecting the game up in your conference room or grab your colleagues and make it a team outing. Here's a few places where you can catch the game in the Washington area:
- Dupont Circle Park - Washington, DC
- The Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse - Arlington, VA
- Breakers Sky Lounge - Herndon, VA
- The Fillmore - Silver Spring, MD
Either way, don't forget to cheer for team USA!
