An Honor to Professional Women in the Washington, D.C. Area Technology Community for their Extraordinary Leadership, Vision, and Talent

MCLEAN, Va. -May 18, 2012 – Kathy Albarado, President and CEO of Helios HR, a provider of human resource management solutions that optimize workforce and business operations wins Women in Technology’s (WIT) 13th Annual Leadership Award for Entrepreneurship. The program honors leading female professionals working in the Greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area who have exemplified unique vision and talent in the technology industry during the previous year. Winners were announced at the WIT Leadership Awards Banquet on May 17, 2012 at The McLean Hilton, Tyson’s Corner.
“This year, we received many excellent submissions from women all around the Washington, D.C. area,” said Kelly Harman, President, WIT. “It was difficult to choose just a few outstanding women, but these… demonstrate what we define as a leader – knowledgeable, active participant in their business and community, and a respected mentor.”

As a Mentor for the WIT Mentor-Protégé program for eight years, Ms. Albarado encourages her colleagues to become involved in WIT activities. Under Kathy’s direction and involvement, Helios team members provide pro bono services on a recurring basis to the GIT Steering Committee, Ready to Work-Perfect Your Image: Help Power Your Career workshop hosted by the WIT Workforce Development Committee, the Easter Seals Veterans Career Prep workshop, and resume writing and interviewing workshops in partnership with the SkillSource Center of Northern Virginia to help develop future leaders in our community.
