Helios HR Honors New Hope Housing
New Hope Housing is the oldest and largest provider of shelter beds in Northern Virginia providing shelter, transitional, and permanent housing to homeless families and single adults, with support services designed to break the cycle of homelessness. They offer innovative responses to homelessness in a spirit of hope and hospitality, taking in anyone in need.
New Hope Housing recognizes that it is critical to provide employee development opportunities from the first day of employment. New hires are brought on board and introduced to the organization through a six-month, cross-agency orientation. Orientation also includes two training programs. The first is Mandt© training which is an approach that emphasizes individual dignity and conflict resolution strategies. The second is Out of Town Poverty training, which is a personal-change life skills course that helps clients in overcoming poverty and homelessness and rebuilding their lives.
The Agency provides support and tuition assistance for a variety of training opportunities consistent with staff development goals. The employee development initiatives above are only some of the development programs that New Hope Housing has initiated. They also conduct weekly and annual performance management discussions with all staff to discuss strengths, needs, concerns, and development opportunities.
