Buzzwords in business are overused to the point of becoming fads at times. We hear phrases daily such as “culture”, “engagement”, “wheelhouse”, “synergy”, “incentivizing”, “strategic”, and the list goes on and on. When these buzzwords become so common in our workplace, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear so many managers and executives misusing these terms to suit their own agendas, while confidently speaking as experts on achieving each.

Often, when an organization loses an HR Director, Benefits Manager, or HR Business Manager for whatever reason, they know that the standard two (or in some cases a bit more) week notice period won’t be enough time to make an offer to the next person to fill the role. While precious handover time slips away, the business will do its best to make a placement before the departure.

There is great interest in the topic of Change Management (CM) among my clients these days. I always tell them for a moment, forget the angst that goes along with a new organizational management buzz concept, new models, acronyms, and the "OMG something else to learn anxiety!"

The Human Capital Impact Forum is where 100 C-level executives and their HR leaders come together to learn, collaborate and adapt human capital programs that drive business growth. This forum was developed as the next evolution of the Helios Apollo Awards, a program Helios held for the last 10 years that recognized leaders for outstanding talent development. This past HCIF offered recertification credit hours and the opportunity to learn what cultures are attracting and retaining today’s new graduates and top-talent.
